Library Use Policy - Oconee Regional Library
- Short casual conversation may be conducted in the lobby or meeting rooms. Conversation within the Library should be quiet enough not to disturb other patrons.
- Patrons and staff will be treated with respect and courtesy at all times. Safety will be ensured with appropriate behavior within the Library and on Library property. Staff instructions must be followed.
- An adult must accompany children under the age of 7 at all times while in the library. The library is not responsible for minor's selection of library materials or use of the Internet and other services. Parents, legal guardians or caregivers are responsible for accompanying their minor children in the use of the library if they wish to restrict their children's use of services and collections.
- Food and drinks are only allowed as a part of scheduled programs.
- Phones are for staff use.
- Patrons using computers must comply with the Oconee Regional Library Computer Acceptable Use Policy.
Patrons using the Library meeting rooms must comply with the Oconee Regional Library Meeting Room Policy and any local library board's meeting room policy.
- The Board has established a "No Solicitation Policy".
The Regional Director may suspend or take away a patron's library privileges for failure to comply with the Library Use Policy. Damage to Library property may result in loss of library privileges and possible prosecution.
Those creating a disturbance will be asked to leave. In the interest of the safety of the children using the library, children under the age of 14 who are without a ride within 30 minutes of being asked to leave will be considered considered abandoned and the authorities called. This procedure will also be used for children without a ride at closing.
