Interlibrary Loan enables libraries to borrow materials from libraries outside of the PINES consortium. This service is offered to all patrons holding a valid library card from any OCRL library and with accounts in good standing.

Materials that can be requested are books, government documents, microfilm, and dissertations, along with copies of journal articles and book sections. The library is unable to request non-circulating books, new books (with current year copyrights), audio-visual materials, and some other high interest materials.

Service will be provided as speedily as conditions permit, with normal turn-around time from one to two weeks. The time may be longer depending on availability. Patron will be notified if the requested title is unavailable or significantly delayed.

Patrons will be notified beforehand about any potential fees. Usually, the only fee is to cover library rate postage, which can be as little as $2.66. Patrons are responsible for all fees as charged by the lending institutions including service fees, insurance, mailing, handling, or photocopying charges. Patrons are also responsible for any damage or lost book fees.  All charges will be billed to the patron on their account.

Patrons will be notified when materials are available for pick-up and the due date set by the lending library. Materials will be held until that due date and, if not picked up, will be returned. The borrower will still be responsible for all ILL charges.

Borrowed materials may be renewed, but that is at the discretion of the lending institution.

Copyright:

Violations of copyright are the responsibility of the borrower/user. Patrons requesting periodical articles will be required to read and sign a copyright compliance statement before receiving their photocopies.
